Scott just stood there, stunned.

The group, totally wowed by Alice, ran straight toward her.
Alice felt like she was going insane from all the attention.
All she wanted was to go home and crash.
But the crowd kept coming–one wave left, another showed up.
Eric gave Daniel a look.
Daniel caught on right away and started clearing people out.
Alice walked over to the event organizers and grabbed the keys to her prize car.
Then she turned around, blinking slowly.
With a serious look, she handed the keys to Eric.
“It’s yours again now,” she said.
Then she smiled gently.
“Please take good care of it.”
Daniel’s eyes got teary when he saw those keys.
He knew how many races that car had been in with Eric.
It had always pulled through.
He and Stanley had stuck with Eric for years, watching his back,
But that car? That car had been through it all with him,

Eric, on the other hand, looked calm.
Still, as he took the keys, there was a soft glow in his eyes.
That usual cold vibe he had? Gone.
He opened his mouth slightly. “Thank-”
But before he could finish, a bunch of people barged in.
“Hey, Mr. and Mrs. Nolan! You’ve got loads of race cars. Mind giving this one to me ? ”
