“What the hell is going on right now?
“You guys messing with me or what?”
Kayla looked defeated. “I sent someone to check, the makeup artist is gone.”
“And her daughter?”
“She was rescued.”
Yvette nearly flipped the table.
Eliza came stumbling over, eyes full of panic and desperation.
“Kayla, Ms. Martinez, please–you have to help me!”
Yvette shoved her aside with disgust.
“Get out of my face.”
Eliza fell to the ground hard. Cameras immediately clicked as reporters rushed to snap pictures.
Yvette didn’t even flinch. She knew those photos wouldn’t see the light of day.
The Martinez family had one of the most powerful legal teams in the country. No media outlet dared cross them.
“Pathetic.”
Yvette wasn’t about to waste another second. She spun around and stormed out of the room.
Sandy waited until Yvette disappeared down the hall before she walked over to Kayla.
“Don’t take it personally. She’s always been like that–spoiled and full of herself.”
Kayla’s eyes were slightly red.
“I’m not mad… I’m just confused about Alice. She’s not what she seems.”
She clenched her fists, forcing down her frustration.
She didn’t want to lose her temper in front of her best friend. “Every time I try to mess with her, something goes wrong.”
“Are you sure she’s just some girl from a small town?”
Sandy nodded.
“My info says she barely ever left the hill town she grew up in. No phone, no internet, completely cut off
Kayla frowned. “If that’s true, she should be completely clueless.
How could someone like that be this well–connected? Why do these powerful people like her so much ? ”
She glanced over at Ryan.
He was still chatting with Levi, clearly impressed by him.
“This investigation wasn’t good enough. We need to dig deeper. Something’s off.”
Sandy nodded, starting to feel the same way.
“Okay, I’ll ask my mom to help.”
Kayla gave a small nod. If Ruby got involved, they’d get results fast.
Over by the studio, Ryan was congratulating Levi.
Levi had started as a backup actor, but thanks to his standout performance earlier, he landed the lead role.
Boston, who everyone expected to shine, was bumped to a reserve.
Levi was glowing with excitement. Boston, on the other hand, looked like he was one step away breakdown
As Boston walked past Levi on his way out, he overheard their conversation.
“It’s all thanks to Ms. Spencer,” Levi said. “I wouldn’t have made it without her.”
Ryan nodded in agreement.
“She deserves the credit. You worked hard, but she pushed you to your limit and helped you grow.”

Levi gave a bitter smile. “If she hadn’t challenged me so much from the start, I wouldn’t have passed Risa’s final test.
“She pushes people hard, but she never brags. That’s why people don’t understand her.”
Ryan noticed Boston standing a few steps away and sneered.
“It’s a shame. Some people are holding a treasure in their hands and still think it’s a burden.”
Boston’s face darkened instantly.
He opened his mouth to argue …
But nothing came out. What could he even say?
With a long breath, he turned and walked away.
Once he was in the car, the air was heavy with silence.
Boston leaned back in the seat , pressing his fingers to his temple. His assistant hesitated , then spoke .
“Mr. Boston… There’s something I should tell you.”
“Go ahead.”
Boston’s voice was tight, like he was holding back a storm.
The assistant sighed.
“I heard Ms. Alice went to the tech conference just now.”
It wasn’t far–just five minutes away in the main lobby of the IT department building.

Boston didn’t respond right away. But unusually, he also didn’t snap at the mention of Alice’s name like he used to.
Encouraged, the assistant kept going.
“Nolan Group’s getting hammered. People online are mocking them non–stop.
“But I remember–you know someone big, right? Someone who could help her.
“If you step in now, she’d owe you. She’d return the favor.”
They all saw earlier just how much Risa respected Alice.
If Alice backed Boston, getting another role would be easy.
Boston actually spoke this time.
“Get in touch with him.”
The assistant lit up. “Mr. Boston, you finally see it.”
He quickly made the call, then added, “We’re still super close to the IT department building. Do you want to stop by?”
Bostorrclosed his eyes and didn’t respond.
The assistant took that as a yes, and started driving toward the building.
