114 Embarrassment
Alice’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Levi was clever. He didn’t want money or favors. He just wanted a legit quality guarantee.
He took his job and his fans seriously. Honestly, that made him a decent actor.
Then, Alice started hearing whispers around.
“So, Levi isn’t even cutting the Martinezes any slack?”
“Ms. Martinez boasted so much just now. I truly thought she could help.”
“Mrs. Irene went through all that effort to invite her, and this is the result? Kinda embarrassing.”
“Look at Mrs. Irene–her whole face just darkened.”
“Okay, hush. Don’t say anything else. What if someone hears?”
The whispers weren’t loud, but they were still clear enough for Yvette to catch on.
She was so angry and humiliated that she nearly bit through her lip.
Ruby, trying to keep things from getting worse, quickly stepped up.
“Thankfully, Yvette helped us get in touch with Levi. That gave us a shot at negotiating.
“It’s just a quality contract. I’ll have our people handle it properly.
“And this time, we’ll make sure if anything goes south, someone will be held accountable . Right, Irene?”
She flashed Irene a smile, neatly giving Yvette an exit and helping Irene save dignity.
Irene finally managed a small smile.
She exhaled and said softly, “Thanks, Yvette. At least now we’ve got a way to fix the Nolan Group’s issues.”
Yvette’s attempt to impress had fallen flat, and the embarrassment was almost unbearable.
But since the Nolans had tossed her a lifeline, she could only play along.
“Mrs. Irene, you’re too kind. Levi has always been a bit of a wild card.

“But don’t worry. I’ll try to keep an eye on him and make sure he doesn’t stir up more trouble.”
Irene nodded in satisfaction.
Then, Sandy cut in.
“Eric, Yvette helped us out big time. Shouldn’t you at least thank her?”
Irene snorted coldly. “She put aside her pride to do this. The least you could do is treat her to a meal.”

Yvette jumped in quickly, clearly embarrassed. “No, no, that’s not necessary. I don’t want to trouble Eric. I just wanted to help.”
Irene wasn’t having it. “It’s just dinner. What’s the big deal?”
Eric replied bluntly, “I’m busy.”
His bluntness hit hard, leaving Yvette completely humiliated.
She couldn’t stay any longer.
Forcing a smile, she said, “I didn’t plan my day well. There’s something else I need to deal with. I should get going.”
Irene knew there was no stopping Yvette, so she threw Eric a sharp glare.
“Perfect timing. Eric is also leaving. You two can go together. Eric, take her.”
Eric’s expression didn’t change. “The car is full.”
Alice couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
So the guy does have a sense of humor .
Her laugh got Daniel chuckling as well.
The others were trying not to crack up, but it was obvious from their trembling shoulders.
Irene looked furious.
Yvette had had enough. She turned and headed for the door.
Irene rushed to catch up and grabbed Yvette’s arm.
“Yvette, don’t take it to heart. You know how he is. He’s always been like that.”
Sandy quickly chimed in.
“Exactly. If Eric didn’t care, he wouldn’t have given you that massive diamond ring three years ago.”
Her words made everyone glance over at Yvette’s hand.
Since the Martinezes were loaded, and Yvette had always lived in luxury, nobody thought much about her flashy jewelry.
But now, multiple eyes zoomed in on the diamond ring she was wearing
