Aubrey shook her head. “Right now, Alpha Henry will do anything I ask. And yes, he is… special to me. But no matter how good things are, I still want to give myself a way out.”
Alpha Mateo looked slightly puzzled, but her last sentence clarified everything. “So, helping me -this is your backup plan?”

Aubrey paused, then said softly, “I guess it’s because… he was the first person I ever liked.”
