Chapter 45
“He went to look for Adrian and I had to get you out of that conversation earlier. Do not try to change the topic”, she glared at
me.
“I should go home, Lyla. I have training with Jayden in the morning. I just started,I don’t want to miss out on it nor slack”, I changed the conversation. I did not want to talk about Adrian, he did not choose me so I’m not going to be bothered about him.
Thankfully, Lyla dropped the matter when my words caught her attention. “You started training with Jayden? You’re so luckyyyyyy, he’s the best fighter and trainer in the whole of the werewolf world. He’s not the Alpha King for nothing” she gushed and I sighed in relief at the change of subject.
“Yeah, I know I got lucky”, I laughed, “that’s why I shouldn’t slack so I won’t get punished by my trainer. I’d get going now Lyla, it’s late already”, I said but she stopped me.
“I’ll have Nathan drop you off at the house, it’s already late and I don’t want any harm to come to you”, she said but I disagreed. I did not want to keep her away from her mate any longer.
“I can walk the short distance just fine, Lyla. I promise you that I’m fine and can handle myself. And besides, no one cares about me enough to hurt me in this pack”, I argued. Seeing that I wasn’t going to back down, she nodded her head and offered to see me out.
We were barely outside when we met Greg, who was coming into the pack house. I was going to avoid him but Lyla dragged us towards him.
“Gregggggggg, you’re heading in already?” Lyla asked a very obvious question and he nodded his head. I’ve noticed that he wasn’t a guy of many words which is very good.
“Can you see Lola home for me?” She asked and we both looked at her in shock at the same time. “I’ve told you I can get to the house back just fine”, I said to Lyla and she rolled her eyes. “Please, I don’t want to be a bother. You don’t have to listen to her “‘, I said to Greg. 2
“I’ll see her home, it’s not a bother at all”, he turned towards Lyla who clapped happily at that. “Now, I can go to my mate in peace”, she said before hugging me and skipping off leaving Greg and I alone.
“Shall we?” Greg said after a moment of silence and I nodded my head as we proceeded out of the pack house. The entire walk home was silent and awkward.
We were almost at the house when he spoke up. “So you’re Adrian’s mate?” I wasn’t even shocked by the question. I knew that he knew already, he lived in the pack house after all.
“Yeah, I’m his mate”, I said softly. “Fay lied. You’re not a freak and you’re definitely worthy of love, any man would be lucky to have you as a mate”, he said and I opened my mouth in shock.
How did he hear what Fay said?
“How did you hear what Fay said? The distance was pretty far apart”, I asked in awe. “We’re at your house already. See you at the group lunch tomorrow or next tomorrow, Lola. Have a good night”. With that, he walked away speedily and I whispered my reply into the night.
I entered the house to find Adrian seated in the couch, fucking with anger. I ignored him and the mate pull and made my way to my room.
There’s only one way I can be happy in this pack. Moving on from Adrian and becoming a strong warrior, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do.
