Adelaide’s expression darkened, her fir pheromones suddenly coalescing into ice, radiating a bone–chilling aura.
Her gaze swept coldly across the room, her slit pupils flashing with a sharp, icy glint.
She said sharply, “This pair of pink diamond earrings didn’t vanish into thin air. Whoever took them, hand them in now, and I might let it slide. But if I have to find them myself, there’ll be hell to pay.”
Everyone exchanged nervous glances, their pheromones fluctuating with varying degrees of tension.
All shook their heads in denial, some with wolf ears subconsciously drooping.
Ralph arrived, his pine pheromones carrying an unquestionable authority as he reiterated the accusation.
Still, everyone maintained their innocence, though their eyes now held a trace of panic.
Ralph said, his pine pheromones heavy as stone, “A thief would hardly confess. Paisley, when did you first notice the earrings were gone?”
Paisley replied, her crimson pheromones warm with urgency, “I discovered them missing tonight. I was still wearing them yesterday.”
Her fingertips, tinged with anxiety, faintly revealed the shadow of wolf claws.
Ralph suggested, “They were likely stolen today and probably haven’t been sold yet. Luna Adelaide, I propose we search everyone’s quarters.”
Adelaide agreed, her fir pheromones pressing down with an irresistible force, “Since no one admits to faking them, we’ll conduct a search.”
At the mention of a search, Sophia’s lilac pheromones erupted into chaos, her face draining of color.

Her pupils dilated with terror, and she instinctively turned to flee but was halted by Ivy from behind.
Ivy spoke calmly, “Sophia, Beata, Jasmine, follow me. Ralph, please round up some pack guards and begin the search from the lower–ranking omegas‘ and pack members‘ quarters.”
Her gaze swept over everyone present.
Priscilla was fast asleep, blissfully unaware of the commotion outside.
She dispatched Susan to investigate the noise.
Learning that a servant had stolen Paisley’s pink diamond earrings, she said indignantly, “The Blackthorn Pack offers better benefits than most. Such greed is intolerable. The culprit must be severely punished.”
“Luna Adelaide is approaching,” came a report from outside.
Unwilling to leave her warm bed on this cold night, Priscilla grumbled, “Why isn’t she managing things outside? Why come to me? I’m already settled for the night.”
“Priscilla,” Adelaide strode in unannounced.
Tonight, the pink diamonds would inevitably be found in Sophia’s quarters, and since Sophia was once Priscilla’s servant, Adelaide had come to inform her in advance.
“Whatever for? It’s freezing tonight. Couldn’t you have dressed more warmly?”
Priscilla, recognizing Adelaide, instantly put on a warm and amiable expression. “Do sit down.”
Adelaide greeted her and, knowing Priscilla wouldn’t rise, sat on the bed’s edge. “Sorry to disturb you so late, but there’s a management issue within the pack.”
“Hmph, no trouble at all. But why the late–night drama? Couldn’t the search wait till morning?” Priscilla yawned.
Susan explained, “Delaying till morning risks the thief moving the evidence. Those pink diamonds are precious.”

Priscilla acknowledged with a soft “Hm,” casting a cold glance at Susan, revealing her displeasure.
“Make some hot coffee,” Adelaide instructed. “We need something warm to stay alert. You look like you’re about to doze off, Priscilla.”
Priscilla waved her hand. “No, thanks. Coffee this late will keep me awake.”
Adelaide persisted, “A little coffee to stay sharp. If we catch the thief, your reprimand will leave a lasting impression, deterring future thefts.”
Priscilla caught the implication.
Though her status was high, she rarely meddled in pack affairs, and her scolding likely wouldn’t hold much weight.
Moreover, Adelaide’s decisiveness meant such a minor theft wouldn’t normally trouble her.
Clearly, Adelaide already knew who the thief was.
Priscilla’s eyes widened as she scanned the room. “Anyone who took the earrings, hand them in now while Luna Adelaide is here. I can intercede for you.”
Her omegas–Eleanor and Morgana–all denied involvement.
If Priscilla’s confidants had taken something, they’d have no choice but to confess -they couldn’t hide it.
Turning to Susan, a flicker of doubt crossed Priscilla’s eyes.
Susan retorted irritably, “I’m not a thief.”
Priscilla shifted her gaze. Susan was trustworthy, having been by her side since childhood.
Adelaide gently said to Eleanor and Morgana, kneeling on the floor, “Rise, both of you. Make the coffee. Priscilla and I need to stay alert.”
Priscilla realized something was amiss, potentially more serious than theft.
She said, “Go on, make the coffee.”
